New York-via-Berlin duo Sha Ru have announced their forthcoming EP, ‘Match My Sway’, set for release on EMA’s Woozy.

It incorporates the pair’s signature use of spoken word combined with club electronics – for this release, with a strong dubstep influence – bringing to attention the continued struggle of oppressed nations’ fight for liberation.

When the pandemic hit in 2020, Sha Ru were united in Belarus, before relocating to Ukraine for an extended time period. It was after immersing themselves in the two countries’ electronic music scenes that it became apparent of the ongoing fights for future freedom. The pair responded with music, which now takes form as the ‘Match My Sway’ EP.

As well as the powerful, protesting messaging within the four-tracker, all artist profits are set to be donated to the Kyiv Angels and Repair Together charities in Ukraine.

EP opener ‘Temporary Iteration’ chronicles a period of transition into clarity, by bringing focus on the now and moving towards the end goal, whilst follow-up ‘Not Fluctuating’ increases the energy with intense bass, biting kicks and snares underlaying vocals describing the feeling of resistance amidst a mission of truth-seeking.

Side B opens with the record’s climactic ‘Synced Energies’, which houses heartfelt lyrics repeating a mantra of unity and refuting divisions. Illian Tape affiliate Walton offers the closing track, with a rave-ready techno remix of ‘Not Fluctuating’.
