Bobby Gillespie, the lead singer of Primal Scream and guitarist Stuart Braithwaite of Mogwai, will be DJing in East London this Sunday (December 11), as part of a tribute event to tour manager Kiko Loiacono.
Taking place at Studio 9294 in Hackney Wick, the event will run from 2:PM to 11:PM, and also features sets from In Light of Aquarius and Douglas Hart of The Jesus & Mary Chain, according to NME.
Braithwaite shared the news that he would be performing in an Instagram post, where he wrote: “Playing some records in London on Sunday in memory of my dear pal [Loiacono]. Please come along.”
Paying tribute at the time, Primal Scream wrote on their Instagram: “Our friend [Loiacono] died yesterday. He gave his life to rock and roll & left wing politics.
“A beautiful cat. His Kiko Bus was legendary,” they continued. “He criss crossed Europe taking many independent rock bands on adventures they will never forget. He drove [Bo Ningen] on Primals UK tour in 2017 – was great to have his positivity and cheer on the road with us. A true believer – he will be missed by many.”
Braithwaite also paid his respects, who wrote: “Got the awful news that my dear friend [Loiacono] died today. He was a one off. A true believer in music, love and friendship.
“He was a champion for all of his friends and was always the best company,” he continued. “The world is a much duller place without him around. Kiko Forever.”
