A two-track EP, ‘Samsara’ is a high-energy gritty techno record with its titular track incorporating the pair’s signature collaborative techno identity with a funkier, groove-laden sound through its brighter synths.
Its breakdown welcomes Middle Eastern vocal sounds overlayed by edging drumbeats before a hypnotic crescendo.

Follow-up ‘Nirvana’ is equally heavy, employing firey synths which stab and weave through the energetic trance chords. Tied together by its powerful four-to-the-floor drum beat, the track transports you to the warehouse rave without needing to leave your bedroom.
‘Samsara’ EP is not the first joint record from Zonneveld and HI-LO (alias of Oliver Heldens). Previous releases include ‘Saw Of Olympus’, ‘Balearic Mornings’, ‘Existencia’ and ‘String Theory’, all of which are hugely successful in their shows as solo artists.
“It’s amazing to kick off the new year with a tune like this on my own Filth On Acid label,” Zonneveld told Mixmag on the latest collaboration. “I loved teaming up with Oliver [HI-LO] again for this one and I’m excited for what’s coming up next!”
“It’s been a lot of fun to work with Reinier over the last 2 years,” HI-LO added. “Every time we hit the studio, something super fresh and unexpected comes out of it, and I think ‘Samsara’ and ‘Nirvana’ are great examples of that! I’m happy to kick off the year with these two boundary crossing techn anthems and I’m excited for what the future has in store.”
